Youth Mentor - Thrive Program

Portland, OR

Description
RAIN’s Thrive Peer Support Program is seeking youth volunteers age 15-21 to be Peer Mentors to unaccompanied refugee youth from countries around the world experiencing war and violence.

What you will do
  • Participate in art and music sharing activities and other events with refugee youth
  • Give tours of your school and answer questions about school in the US
  • Hear presentations about schools from around the world
  • Teach Computer Programming and Graphic Design to refugee youth
  • Tutor English and other subjects while practicing your second language
  • Participate in fundraising activities
Time Commitment
  • Prior to project participation, complete a 3-hour training and orientation
  • Attend 2 peer-to-peer support events per month
  • Attend other trainings about refugees and their countries and experiences as available
Requirements
  • Cultural sensitivity and an open mind
  • Willingness to learn about other cultures from a human rights perspective
  • Second language a plus!

Communications Specialist

Location Flexible

RAIN is seeking an adaptable and organized Communication Specialists with a talent for writing to manage emails and communications with donors and RAIN’s audience-including the management of our monthly newsletter, fundraising strategy and campaigns to increase engagement with RAIN’s cause.  This is a part time, volunteer position with a minimum 5-10 hours per week.

Requirements
Minimum 1 year experience in communications or fundraising within nonprofit agencies is required. Creativity and the ability to think outside the nonprofit box is a must. Bachelor Degree and previous published works preferred. RAIN is a budding, cutting edge organization so we are looking for experienced professionals who are excited about utilizing communication to change the narrative.

Volunteer Coordinator

Portland, OR

RAIN is seeking a creative, adaptable, organized Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate volunteer recruitment, orientation, supervision, recognition, and retention. Will participate in planning organizational events and fundraising activities.  This is a part time, volunteer position with a minimum 5-10 hours per week.

Requirements
Strong interpersonal skills, highly organized and prior experience supervising staff or volunteers required. Willingness to be a part of a culturally diverse team. Bachelors degree preferred. Must have a desire to do some good in the world. Previous experience working within a nonprofit organization preferred. Sense of humor a plus!
